“Education that helps young people develop life skills has transformative potential.”
Recognizing the pivotal role of teachers in ensuring child-centered learning and holistic child development, a workshop on ‘Life Skills’ was organized at CT Public School, Jalandhar by Mr.A.P.Singh ,Principal,Rayat Bahra,on 8July,2019. Around 60 staff members attended the workshop.
The session focused on how life skills need to be practiced, imbibed and lived more than being just taught. The definition of life skills and their importance in our lives was discussed.
The development of ‘Life-Skills’ to enhance the students’ thinking skills, social skills and emotional skills was highly emphasized during the workshop. The Resource person guided the teachers to be the harbingers of change and exhorted them to integrate life-skills with other subjects. The session was made interesting by incorporating games to convey the concepts. In this way, the teachers were familiarized with the life skills through various activities. With a mix of audio-visual aids, role plays, reflections and discussions, it opened up minds to look at themselves in a different perspective and gear up for the change. The teachers too articulated their difficulties and were assisted by the resource person to cope up with the same.
Mr.Daljeet Rana ,the Principal expressed gratitude to Mr.A.P.Singh with his generous words of appreciation. He further, prompted all teaching fraternity to think beyond the syllabus in order to teach and make ‘Life Skills’ a regular classroom practice. The Vice Principal,Mrs.Sukhdeep Kaur also encouraged the staff to cascade their learning to create ripple effect in the lives of others.“
