CT Public School Observes English Week

"To have another language is to possess a second soul"

Language is our primary source of communication. It is a method through which we share ideas and thoughts. CT Public school took the initiative to focus on improving the English Skills of the students which would improve the leadership skills, teamwork, speech and drama and Visual Acts. A number of activities were initiated by the English Department of the School like poster making competition, paragraph writing, screening of English movie, games to enhance grammar etc.

The English Week commenced on August 19, 2019, with Poster Making Contest which was scheduled for classes VIII-XII. The students expressed their views and ideas on various burning social issues through posters and tried to send their message to the society at large. Paragraph and story writing activity was conducted on the second day of the English Week. It is said that writing skills especially stories have the power to change your life and the lives of others. Moreover, writing skills effect your life, what career you pursue and how much of an impact you can have on the world.

Writing and storytelling are not easy. They take effort, time, practice and the courage to begin. They provide a way to express what you love and what excites you. They are a way to escape and create the world the way you would like it be and paragraphs are so important in writing; good paraphrasing helps the reader understand and enjoy your writing. Good ideas are not enough to write a good essay infact they need to be well organised so that they make sense. The students from grade I to XII experienced this wonderful activity where they gave words to their thoughts.
The students of grades VI and VII took part in the Telephone and Relay Message. In this activity, the students learned how to talk over a phone. This activity helped the students to enhance their listening and speaking skills and also learned telephone etiquettes. The students also enjoyed playing

 Chinese Whispers.

It is important to enhance the listening, speaking and writing skills of the students. For improving the listening skills, the students were shown English Motivational Videos. These videos not only motivated the children to improve their life skills but also enabled them to refine their pronunciation of different words.
The students of grade III and IV took part in the 'Cross Word ' and 'Word Chain' games. These fun based activities intended for students to increase their vocabulary. In the Word Chain game the players came up with words that begin with the letter that the previous word ended with. In the CrossWord Puzzle game, students were given the clues to find out the right answers . These activities focus on vocabulary and concept development as well as spellings.

Only a few are blessed by the talent of effective advertising "The Ad Mad Show" activity is the perfect platform to showcase that you have the knack to advertise and win hearts. With this thought in mind, an ad mad activity took place for the classes 11 and 12 on 27th August, 2019 . Excitement level of the children reached sky high while preparing for the activity . It not only showcased their acting skills but also the impromptu ability to use the cognitive skill on the spot.
The children took an exclusive interview of revered Mr. Manbir Singh, Managing Director, CT Group. The children's panel comprised of the School Prefectorial Board who asked many questions pertaining to his student life and career. It was a great learning session for the students who were greatly inspired by Sir who motivated them to excel in their field. This interview helped the children to build their confidence and improve their communication skills.Listening, at its best, is active, focused, concentrated attention for the purpose of understanding the meanings expressed by a speaker so a listen and draw activity took place for grades 5th and 6th on 28th August to make children more active and critical listeners.
