Independence Day Celebrations

Our aim may be as high as the endless sky, but we should have a resolve in our minds to walk ahead, hand-in-hand, for victory will be ours'. Atal Bihari Vajpayee

It was a red letter day in the history of India when the country got her freedom on August 15, 1947. The Independence Day has a great importance in every citizen's life. It is one of the rare occasions when the whole nation resonates with the spirit of nationalism and patriotism. It is a day to rediscover the glory of Indian freedom struggle and to reiterate the spirit infused by our freedom fighters.

CT Public School celebrated this auspicious festival of India whereby the students presented many cultural programmes. The school choir enthralled the audience with their rendition of patriotic songs. In the Inter House Group Dance Competition based on patriotism Nelson Mandela House and Kalpana Chawla House bagged the first position. A One-Act play in Hindi was staged depicting how our Indian Army destroyed the terrorists in the Kargil War and sacrificed their lives for the motherland. The tiny tots also expressed their love for the country by garbing themselves in the attire of freedom fighters like Bhagat Singh, Udham Singh, Jhansi ki Rani, Mother India and many more.

Chief Guest of the day, Mrs. Parminder Kaur Channi congratulated the students on the occasion of Independence Day. In her address to the students, she said that although everyone is free but we should remain in discipline in order to enjoy the freedom.

The Principal, Mr. Daljeet Singh told the students to follow the ideals of the great people like Mahatma Gandhi, Nehru, Subhash Chandra Bose etc. He spoke about the significance of the historic day and urged the students to become ideal citizens of the country.

This day reminds us every year that freedom is sacred and citizens must do everything to ensure that it shall not be endangered. On this auspicious occasion the Vice Principal,Ms.Sukhdeep kaur stated that we must remember to pay homage to the great people because of whom we are enjoying our freedom. It is important for all Indians to revere and pay respect to those who died for the country.

“Even if I died in the service of the nation, I would be proud of it. Every drop of my blood… will contribute to the growth of this nation and to make it strong and dynamic.” – Indira Gandhi
