CT Public School Hosts CBSE Capacity Building Programme on Promoting Mental Health and Wellness Among Students

In a dedicated effort to foster emotional resilience and holistic well-being among students, CT Public School organized a comprehensive CBSE Capacity Building Programme on the theme “Promoting Mental Health and Wellness among Students” for its teaching faculty.

The primary objective of the programme was to equip teachers with the knowledge, skills, and strategies required to identify and address the emotional and psychological needs of students, promote positive mental health, and create a supportive and inclusive learning environment. The session emphasized the crucial role of teachers in nurturing students’ emotional well-being alongside their academic growth.

The workshop was expertly conducted by two distinguished resource persons: Ms. Jyotsna Sharma, PGT at Seth Hukam Chand S.D. Public Sr. Secondary School, with over 20 years of experience, a Ph.D. scholar, and recipient of the FAP National Best Teachers Award (2022), Influential Women of the Year (2023), and Guru Ratna Award; and Mr. Rajinder Kumar, a seasoned academician with more than two decades of experience, including nine years as a Principal, holding advanced qualifications in Economics and Psychology and an International Diploma in Guidance and Counselling from NCERT.

Throughout the highly engaging and interactive session, the resource persons shared practical tools for recognizing early signs of emotional distress, managing academic stress, fostering emotional intelligence, and implementing culturally rooted mindfulness practices drawn from Indian Psychology. A variety of hands-on activities, group discussions, reflective exercises, and experiential learning tasks were conducted with the teachers, enabling them to understand students\' perspectives and explore effective approaches to supporting their mental and emotional well-being.

The programme highlighted the relevance of mental health awareness in classrooms by emphasizing the need for empathetic teacher-student relationships, positive classroom environments, effective communication, and timely intervention. Teachers gained valuable insights into creating safe spaces where students feel heard, respected, and emotionally secure, thereby enhancing both learning outcomes and overall well-being.

The seminar concluded with a lively interactive session, where participants shared their experiences and reflections. Principal Ms. Manisha Basnet expressed her gratitude to the resource persons and appreciated the active participation of the faculty. She reiterated the school\'s commitment to fostering an environment that promotes not only academic excellence but also the mental and emotional wellness of every learner.

The programme proved to be an enriching professional development experience, empowering educators to become compassionate facilitators of student growth and well-being.
